Meet Darren Jack
The Founder of AssetFynd
Darren Jack didn’t set out to build a career around lost assets—it all started with a bank collapse in 1991.
Fresh out of business school in Canada and employed by a global consulting firm, Darren was sent to the Cayman Islands in 1995 to assist with the liquidation of a failed international bank that had operated across 45 countries, leaving creditors in 120 nations waiting to be paid. His job? Adjudicating creditor claims and assisting in distributing billions of dollars to those rightfully owed money (the old school way).
It should have been simple: verify claims, cut the checks, and send the payments. But reality was messier. By the time distributions were issued years later, thousands of checks—worth hundreds of millions of dollars—came back undeliverable. People had moved, businesses had shut down or relocated, and in some cases, creditors had passed away. The money was there, but the rightful owners were nowhere to be found.
That experience got Darren thinking. Where does lost money actually go?
After nearly a decade in Cayman, he returned to Canada and co-founded Impact360, an indirect tax recovery firm. Even then, his curiosity about unclaimed financial assets never faded. He and a team of colleagues started digging—researching global laws, tracking dormancy rules, and mapping out country by country where missing funds ended up. In the end, a large international consulting firm acquired Impact360.
His second startup, AssetMine, took that curiosity to the next level. Launched in 2013, AssetMine built one of the largest global unclaimed property databases, aggregating $50 billion in dormant financial assets from 70+ jurisdictions. Using AssetMine’s cutting-edge search and match technology, Darren and his team recovered tens of millions of dollars for individuals, corporations, and governments in 25+ countries. In 2018, the company was acquired by another global consulting firm where Darren continued leading asset recovery efforts—tracking down some of the largest single-asset recoveries in the industry.
But Darren wasn’t done. He recruited a diverse team of technical experts with deep technology expertise and curiosity, with a focus and interest in Artificial Intelligence applications.
In 2023, he launched AssetFynd, his third startup, to revolutionize asset recovery. This time, he wasn’t just collecting data—he was changing the paradigm of the entire search and match process. No more endless, perpetual dead-end searches or years of waiting to locate and recover assets. AssetFynd’s AI-powered system proactively scans, cleans, and organizes global lost asset records, then matches them with their rightful owners in minutes instead of days or weeks.
With a database of 300 million+ lost assets from nearly 200 global sources, AssetFynd is setting a new industry standard—making it easier, faster, and smarter for businesses, fiduciaries, charities, and governments to find and reclaim what’s legally theirs worldwide.
Darren's extensive hands-on experience has established him as a recognized industry leader. He chaired the first International Unclaimed Property Conference, serving on the UPPO Clients Rep Committee since 2015, and presenting at major global forums. His mission? To help rightful owners efficiently and effectively recover their assets anywhere in the world.
And in case you were wondering—yes, he still gets a thrill from the chase.
